Committees

Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (the "Society") committees provide opportunities for members to get involved with the Society and with furthering the practice of benefit-cost analysis.  There are both standing and ad-hoc committees.  If you would like to be involved with a current committee or suggest a new committee, please email sbcainfo@u.washington.edu.

Conference Committee

Society members are invited to join the Conference Committee.  Charged with the substantive content of, and certain logistical decisions about, the annual Society conference, Conference Committee members collaborate electronically to draft a call for papers, review submissions, and coordinate panels.  An excellent way to stay abreast of current research and scholarship, the Conference Committee also works closely with the Board of Directors.

Principles & Standards Committee

The Benefit-Cost Analysis Center, which helped found the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis and works towards some of the same aims, is currently spearheading an effort to create principles and standards for benefit-cost analysis (BCA) work through a commissioned series of white papers on BCA applied to analysis of social programs, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.  The Society intends to build on this effort to create and review principles and standards for benefit-cost analysis overall, to bring additional legitimacy to the field.  Members of this committee will work to draft and review standards based on currently available scholarship.
