Call for Submissions - 2016 Conference and Workshops

August 21, 2015

The Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) is now accepting abstracts and workshop proposals for participation in our 2016 annual conference on Improving the Theory and Practice of Benefit-Cost Analysis. The SBCA is an international group of practitioners, academics and others who are working to improve the theory and application of the tools of benefit cost analysis (BCA). We welcome submissions that support the use of such analysis to promote evidence based decision making.

Conference Presentations

Conference presentation abstracts may address the link between theory and practice, the methods used to estimate particular types of costs or benefits, the application of BCA to specific case studies, the role of BCA in decision making or any other relevant topic. We welcome submissions from scholars, practitioners, and others working in academia, nonprofits, business and government around the world. Abstracts must be between 200 to 300 words in length and clearly describe the research. You may submit an abstract for an individual presentation or organize a full panel.

Workshops

Workshop proposals may be on any topic related to benefit-cost analysis that will be of interest to others working in this field. Workshops may address basic skills or emerging issues. Topics of interest to those working in academia, government, industry, or nonprofits, in the U.S. or elsewhere, are welcome. Examples include:

  • Basic skills related to conducting specific types of analysis
  • Current theoretical and methodological developments
  • Recent findings in particular policy areas
  • Approaches for effective communication of analytic results

Workshops may be designed as mini-courses, panel discussions, highly interactive conversations, or other formats. Innovative approaches are welcome. Workshops may not be used for commercial purposes and must provide a balanced perspective.
