JBCA Editor Call for Proposals

Call for Proposals for Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis Editorship

In 2010, the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) launched the Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis (JBCA) to improve the practice of benefit-cost analysis and encourage its use to promote better public policy. Applied analyses encompass all policy areas such as those programs and policies related to education, health, poverty, and housing, as well as regulations and projects related to the environment, transportation, safety, and security. The current co-editors, Glenn Blomquist and Bill Hoyt at the University of Kentucky, will complete their tenure at the end of 2018. The Society now seeks a new editor, or team of co-editors, to serve a three-year renewable term beginning in January 2019. The Society seeks an editor who will continue to raise the profile of the journal with its intended audiences, broaden the submissions from academics and practitioners, and maintain the highest standards for rigor and relevance.

About the Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis

The JBCA serves multiple audiences with a global reach. Like other scholarly journals, it provides a forum for scholars to share innovative research that advances the theory and technique of benefit-cost analysis and related methods. In addition, it provides reviews, demonstrations, applications, and other types of articles that have value to practitioners and teachers of benefit-cost analysis. The Society seeks an editor or editors committed to serving the needs of not just researchers, but also of practitioners and teachers of benefit-cost analysis.

The journal has been published by Cambridge University Press (CUP) since 2015. Typically, there are three online issues are published each year. The journal has experienced steady growth as measured by various metrics such as full-text views/downloads, citations, and signups for content alerts. The journal is listed in the Clarivate Analytics’ (formerly Thomson Reuters’) Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and is currently being evaluated for listing in the Web of Science flagship Social Science Citation Index, at which point it will receive an Impact Factor. Additional information about the journal is available on the JBCA website and the SBCA website.
