International Workshop and CBA Summer School in Milan

May 8, 2017

You are invited to attend an international workshop titled The Role of CBA in Government Decision-making: International Perspectives, on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in Milan, Italy. It is organized by the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA), the University of Milan, and the Centre for Industrial Studies (CSIL).

The workshop will act as a forum to discuss benefit-cost analysis (CBA) practices worldwide by bringing together institutional stakeholders, academics and practitioners. It will specifically address a comparison between the US, European, and international perspectives and experiences in carrying out the CBA of projects and policies. The keynote address will be given by Lynn Karoly, SBCA President.

The workshop is offered in conjunction with the 7th edition of the Milan Summer School from September 18-23, 2017, which offers an intensive learning experience focused on the ex-ante appraisal (Cost-Benefit Analysis) of Major Projects asking for co-financing under the European Structural and Investment Funds in the programming period 2014-2020. The structure of this school reflects the need to provide an overview and introduction to principles and methods of CBA for beginners and to offer a more in-depth understanding of sectoral applications for more advanced trainees. Workshop registration is included in the summer school registration, or is offered free of charge to SBCA members. There is a fee of 80 Euros for non-summer school students who are not SBCA members.

For more information, visit CSIL's website. The application deadline is August 25, 2017.

You are also encouraged to register for the summer school program, and SBCA members can receive a 20% discount on the tuition. Please see the CSIL website for more details about the application process.
