Call for Board Nominations

SBCA Seeks Nominations for Open Board Positions 

The Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis (SBCA) is seeking nominations for the following open board positions to begin on January 1, 2025: 
  • Vice President, who will serve for a term of one year, then automatically succeed to the office of President for one year, then automatically succeed to the office of Past President for one year 
  • Assistant Treasurer, who will serve for a period of one year, then automatically succeed to the office of Treasurer for one year, then automatically succeed to the office of Past Treasurer for one year 
  • Secretary, who will serve for a period of three years
  • Two Directors, who will serve for three years (from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027).

Self-nominations are actively encouraged. 

Qualifications 

All officers and members of the Board, both voting and ex-officio, must be voting members of SBCA the year prior to and during their terms of office. Nominations of women, minorities, and other groups who are under-represented in the benefit-cost analysis community are especially welcome. In addition, SBCA strives to ensure a balance between practitioners and academics. 

Process and Timeline

Nominations must be submitted by August 15, 2024. Submit your nomination(s) by email to Nominations Committee Chair Henrik Andersson at [email protected]

Please provide the nominee’s name, institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number.

  • All nominations (including self-nominations) should include a brief (250 words or less) biographical statement summarizing the candidate’s qualifications
  • Please attach a CV of the nominee.

The Nominations Committee will work with the SBCA Executive Committee to identify a slate of candidates for the fall election. This slate will be presented to the Board for their consideration.

Elections are anticipated to run from October 1, 2024, through October 15, 2024. All SBCA members in good standing are eligible to vote. Election results are decided by the highest number of votes cast. In the case of a tie, the winner will be determined by real or virtual coin toss performed by the Vice President.
